Usage

wedi 321 is a hydraulic binding agent-based, highly polymer-modified quick-drying thin-bed tile adhesive manufactured in accordance with DIN 18157 for full surface setting and laying of wedi building boards, wedi Fundo Shower Bases and wedi Subliner to the substrate. In addition, it is also ideal for bonding of large format tiles including ceramic, fully vitrified porcelain, natural stone, terrazzo, glass and mosaics. The flexible adhesive can also be used on plasters made from cement, lime or gypsum, screed, concrete and prefabricated concrete elements (after fully cured), gypsum fibre boards, aerated concrete, mastic asphalt and insulating boards as well as the wedi sealing system.

This bag of wedi 321 should be mixed with 3.2 litres of cool water in a clean container and mixed vigorously and evenly (spiral mixer) until a smooth, lump-free and paste-like mortar is formed. If synthetic resin is also used, the quantities of this and the water must be calculated. Allow the mixture to mature for at least 3 minutes. Then stir it again.

Application & Fixing the wedi Products to the substrate.
All wedi Products should be installed in accordance to the technical installation methodology.

Application & Fixing the Tile/Stone/Glass Mosaic
Tiles should be fixed in accordance with Australian Standard AS 3958.1-2007 apply the adhesive using a square-notched trowel. First apply wedi 321 with a smoothing trowel to create a contact layer on the surface. Then use a suitable notch trowel through the product to ensure full-surface bonding of the tiles. Depending on the absorbency of the surface and the air temperature, the adhesive can be pre-applied in one go for a large area (approx. 1 – 1.5 m², open time approx. 30 minutes). Under no circumstances must the mortar bed be allowed to form a skin (test with your finger). wedi 321 has an open time of approx. 30 minutes at 23 °C and an adjustment time of 60 minutes. Please be aware al site conditions when considering times and only spread enough adhesive so that wedi and tiles can be fixed while the adhesive is still wet. Do not spot fix the tile. Remove all excess adhesive before the adhesive dries.
