An eye-catcher thanks to the characteristic "flakes": three new designs for the wedi Top Wall
Modern design for bathrooms and showers: the wedi Top Wall as a seamless alternative to traditional wall tiles. Three new designs, made 100% of mineral materials, are now available. Their special feature is the integrated "flakes" – which consist entirely of recycled materials. wedi will present these new surfaces at BAU 2023 in Munich in April.
The new colours of the wedi Top Wall are called "flake white", "flake lightgrey" and "flake grey". "The flakes are integrated into the homogeneous and non-porous mineral material which makes these new surfaces real eye-catchers in the design of walls and other surfaces in wet rooms" says Sebastian Hinze, product manager at wedi. What's more, for the production of these surfaces, wedi uses recycled materials that would normally be disposed of. "It is important to us to optimize our production in line with our commitment to sustainability – and I think that these products are a true reflection of this."
Simple installation, absolute security
Large-format wedi Top Wall elements provide a grout free design. As a result, they are not only a visual highlight in the bathroom, but are also particularly easy to maintain. "The surface is insensitive to cleaning agents and the mineral material is mould-resistant, antibacterial and hygienic. All of this makes them an ideal material to use for surface design in modern bathrooms" continues Hinze.
With the new designs, wedi further expands its range of design surfaces for bathrooms and wet rooms. Just like all the other colours of the Top Wall, the three "newcomers" can also be installed in just a few steps, and hence offer a straightforward, safe installation. "They are particularly versatile. For example, the material is completely dyed through: if the material needs to be cut to required size or shape, there are no unsightly cut edges. We also offer a repair kit for small defects – offering even more advantage over ceramic surfaces" explains Hinze.
The wall elements can be mounted on a wide variety of substrates with the sole use of wedi 610 adhesive sealant. Time-consuming mixing of tile adhesives and long drying times are therefore eliminated. After bonding with wedi 610, the shower can be used after two hours.
wedi Top Wall elements are ideal for renovation projects. "Any unevenness in the wall can be easily compensated with wedi building boards, and the Top Wall elements can also be cut and adjusted on the construction site with conventional tools" says Mr Hinze.
