Every shower holds untapped potential to save energy: with Fundo Thermo, one of the largest sources of energy use in the home (after heating) can be reduced in a practical and effective way. Wastewater heat recovery is integrated directly into the shower system, capturing up to 50% of the heat from outgoing shower water to preheat incoming fresh water. The result is a shower routine that supports smarter energy use without changing the shower experience.
As a fully integrated system, Fundo Thermo opens up new possibilities for energy-efficient bathroom design and is well suited to Passive House projects and certification-driven construction. It is simple to install, safe and low maintenance. The technology works quietly in the background, preserving both design freedom and everyday practicality.

How the heat exchange works
Fundo Thermo operates entirely without power, batteries or cables. The system is designed to meet EN1717 requirements and supports high hygienic standards. The heat exchange process works in four simple steps:
- 1. Fresh water is routed through the integrated heat exchanger - cold fresh water enters the recovery unit and flows through a dedicated, separate channel.
- 2. Heat from shower wastewater is transferred - warm wastewater (approx. 40°C) from the shower passes through a separate channel alongside it. This allows heat to be transferred efficiently while keeping fresh water and wastewater fully separated at all times.
- 3. Incoming fresh water is preheated - as heat is transferred, the fresh water (at approx. 10°C) is automatically preheated (to approx. 26°C) before it reaches the tap/shower mixer/thermostat.
- 4. Less energy is needed to reach the desired shower temperature - because the incoming water is already warmer, the hot water system uses less energy to achieve the required shower temperature.
