How do I finance my own apartment?
Sebastian Lage faced this question in 2004. After training as a specialist computer scientist, the then 22-year-old was looking for a transitional job to make money, in order to then look for something "solid" in peace. He applied to wedi without further ado – and received a confirmation. Since then, more than 20 years have gone to the country, and the production helper of that time has become a manager.

As a half-year turned into two decades
Flashback to 2004. Just a few weeks after his start at wedi, Sebastian had found his life task – without knowing it back then: Because he came to the department for quality assurance. There he checked whether the building boards and other products produced met the high wedi standard. But at that time, all the comments were still written down on paper – "an absolute nightmare for me as a computer scientist". So Sebastian took the initiative and ended the paper business by programming a "computer aided quality" system himself. The insert paid off for him, as he gradually took on administrative and organizational tasks and ultimately led the quality assurance team.

The next step on the career ladder
After several other positions at wedi, Sebastian returned to his original department as Head of Quality in March 2024 – now responsible for quality assurance and quality management throughout the company: "I had to seize this opportunity, that's just my hobby horse," he says. What fascinates him about this task? "Everything: From analytical thinking to monitoring new product processes to the topic of artificial intelligence. "I use AI, for example, for statistical evaluations. It used to take me 2-3 hours to do it, but with AI it can be done in a few minutes."
Why did he stay in the company for so long? "At wedi, I have always had the opportunity to develop and deal with new topics. The atmosphere in the company is great, I get along well with my colleagues and appreciate the cross-divisional cooperation," says Sebastian.
Everything sounds like the 42-year-old will stay with wedi for the next 20 years!
